    Oval barber's bowl with scalloped and fluted edge; indentation at side for neck and indentation on rim for thumb. Deep basin. Blue glaze decorative scheme of birds and flowers with framing blue edge at rim. Underside of rim: 3 blue glazed "branch" motifs.

  6. Bowl, Punch - FX316

    Grey footed body with blue and red glaze fruit and vine pattern along rim of interior and exterior. Inscription in red glaze at bottom of bowl: "one/more; and/ Then" The inscription is a shortened version of the 18th century saying "One bowl of punch more, and then we part". It was further shortened to become the motto on a "Drunkards Coat of Arms" : "One more and then".

    Round white box, made from cardboard, decorated with green, red and yellow leaves. Box was originally for adhesive suspension hooks patented on December 25, 1877 Written in pencil on the bottom, "15" with underline, probably means 15 cents.

Label in the base reads, "This box was made out of a piece of wood, brought from Erie Canal in the First Canal boat The Seneca Chief"; label in the lid reads, "Presented by the City of New York" (with eagle perched on a half-globe).

    Ovular six-sided lift top sewing box; braided leather handles, velvet reserve top, florets with faceted steel centers, opening to raspberry silk interior. Lower body having curvilinear bombeshape with applied florets on velvet. Contents of box: steel sewing scissors, steel ribbon "needle" in case, silk ribbon garter, card of hooks and eyes, sterling silver thimble from Columbian Exposition (1892), ivory handled file.

    An early 18th century Long Island blanket chest, Oyster Bay or Hempstead, in old Spanish brown (red) paint, having a deeply molded, straight edge lift-top, over double-inset paneled front, deep medial molding surround, over long drawer, deep molded-edge skirt, supported on original, bold, ring-turned onion feet, retains old snipe hinges and Queen Anne brass bat-wing pulls. Original feet marked "XVIII".

    A steel and silver-mounted sword, probably 18th century, Continental, with hardstone handle, in tooled leather and metal tipped scabbard, the sword with lightly curved, steel blade, with green spiral-carved green-stained ivory handle, reticulated silver foliate designed ball end, Chain attachment missing at handle and on scabbard. - The decorative motifs look to be military in nature; flags, a drum, a shield, perhaps a liberty cap, etc.

  20. Embroidery - FX319

    Silk crewel embroidery on linen of three pinks flanked by other flowers with scarlet ribbon looped around stems. Predominant colors are soft jade green, pale yellow and rose on linen background. What looks like the initials "R" and "E" are very lightly inked on either side of the bow.
