Description |
A late 18th Century American mahogany tall case clock, having bold, broken-arch pediment, flanked on each side by turned-wood vasiform finial, over arch-glazed door, opening to 8-day brass movement clock, by John Drury, (1720-1774), London, having ornate, applied, pierced-brass corner spandrels, hour and minute chapter ring, surmounted by Silent-Strike indicator, "second" dial, marked in aperture below, "John Drury London," above date aperture, the waisted case with fluted quarter-pilaster, long door, stepped-down pedestal base, on French-style feet (of late vintage), retain its old, possibly original finish. The interior of the door contains a list of names and dates by whom the clock was serviced. |
