Description |
Early Long Island leather billfold, gilt embossed with the writing "Jacob Townsend" and "Oyster Bay 1743". Two half-moon flaps create a total of four pockets for the wallet. On one flap, in ink is written "Jacob Townsend 1746". The wallet has scroll and foliage style embossed trim. Inside the wallet is a small scrap of paper. On one side reads: "John Townsond 1681" and the other side there is illegible writing and "Jericho Ny". |
