From Charles DeKay to his father; news of his activities; Mr.Cooper of "Hemstead" newspaper, the inquest, Aunt Sate; mother (Helene) will not be going to Albany. Embossed with a crown, etc. in upper left of first page. Oyster Bay L.I. Sept. 13th 71 Dear Father Sol reached here via Syosset this evening. No letter from Tom's River as yet. I was invited to Mrs. WR Jones last to tea, when I got home I found Ed's letter too late to get the things together so as to send them by the Boat this morning. We intend to send them tomorrow. Enclose please find a card from Mr. Cooper. he is the Editor of one of the Hemstead Papers say's that he has had a correspondence with you, he called at the House to see you will be in Oyster Bay again in about a fortnight, did not state his business. The Inquest is over. (as you see by the papers) all Oyster Bay has assumed its daily routine. I call at Miss Smyth for the 25 $. She said that she did not have the money but would send it in as soon as she could get it. Mr. Monilaws would like to have his money, he will be working here tomorrow doing some little jobs so his bill will be a little more. Mother wrote you last evening X(to you)X. She will not go to Albany this week. Aunt Sate is not very well. X(Bob says the nomination takes place on the 20th of Sept. does not know what for or where it will be held.)X Excuse writing and scratching, as there was a slight probability of a mistake and we ought not to make mistakes so I cross it out Yours Respt.
